However, Mary was still very skeptical about putting labels on their relationship. Mary knew that the next man she fully let into her life was going to be her husband.
Throughout the dating process, Chris was very patient with Mary.Īfter 2 months of training together and going on weekly dates, Mary knew that Chris was the one, as did he with her. Both Mary and Chris made it clear to each other that they were looking for a God centered marriage long term. Chris took Mary to a service at church followed by brunch. After the first training session with Chris, Mary wanted to return and weekly training developed very quickly into a date outside of the gym without her little brother tagging along. Chris claims that he had zero intention of dating Mary at the time but rather wanted to build a team to compete in the future. Mary, being skeptical about dating, brought her little brother Michael with her as she was still very wary about letting a man into her life. Mary accepted the invitation and went to train with the team at Blue Crab Fitness. That never happened so Chris decided to reach out to Mary. He told his team if they wanted Mary then they could handle it. Everyone on the team brought up Mary as a potential candidate and thought Chris could reach out but he wanted no part of it due to what happened in 2020. Chris and a couple of training partners at Blue Crab Fitness had a goal of sending a team to a CrossFit semifinal in the spring of 2022 but they were missing a second female. Looking back now, both of them agree that they were not ready for a relationship and needed to heal and strengthen their personal relationship with God before they moved on.įast forward to July 2021. A couple of months went by and Chris reached back out to Mary to follow up on that rescheduled date.
Chris was disappointed but respected Mary's choice. Mary said that she would love to reschedule. Mary accepted the invite but canceled on him at the last minute. Chris and Mary's story started back in October 2020 when Chris asked Mary out on a date to JoJo's in downtown Frederick.
